It is February. For most, it means off the track and wintery weather. For those of us blessed to live here in paradise known as the Valley of the Sun, today was an specimen of why it is a great thing to come to Phoenix this time of the year. The intoxication was a beautiful 70 degrees.
Why bring this up? Well, the third round of the local PGA Tour golf match -- the Waste Management Phoenix Open -- set a in confidence on Saturday. 173,210 people attended the golf tournament. That was a only-day record for any day in the history of the tournament.
The tourney has a reputation of being one of the more spirited groups of fans and for this senses Tiger Woods has not participated in the Phoenix Open for years.
The gathering record can be seen in many ways. One, people like golf. Two, people intended to have something to do this time of year. Three, the weather was perfect.
Honestly, is there any better unsuitable in the world to be than Phoenix right now and this time of year in general? You'll be difficult pressed to find it if it exists.
