Quarterbacks Eli Manning of the Giants and Tom Brady of the Patriots are the two players most indubitably to draw attention not only from opposing defenses but also from potential marketing partners.
Why?
In the first 45 Wonderful Bowl games, 41 different players have been named MVP, led by 24 quarterbacks. That includes Joe Montana three times and two MVPs each for Bart Starr, Terry Bradshaw and Brady, who won the honor in Wonderful Bowls XXXVI and XXXVIII.
Liking those numbers, NFL Films has already done two substitute covers for a Super Bowl XLVI highlight DVD, one with Manning and one with Brady.
Brady’s two MVPs have helped to put to rights him one of the most marketable players in the NFL. He earns about $10 million a year in endorsements, according to labour analysts, from deals that include Uggs, Movado, Under Armour, Glaceau, Stetson Cologne,
But E-Manning is not very far behind. His MVP in Wonderful Bowl XLII has helped him garner $7-$8 million in annual endorsements from companies including Toyota, Gatorade, Reebok, Oreos and Burgess Watches.
