Tonight will start a two-day showcase of Knoxville hockey record at the Civic Coliseum.
Many of the all-time greats have returned for Legends Weekend as the Knoxville Ice Bears build up b act up host to the Louisiana IceGators tonight and Saturday night.
Both games start at 7:30. Saturday's pastime will be preceded by the Legends Game at 5:30.
It's the Ice Bears' 10th anniversary — making it the longest-tenured hockey party in Knoxville history — and in honor of it, retired hockey litt Nick Gates, who covered Knoxville hockey from 1988-2010 for the Expos Sentinel, has selected his 18-man 10th anniversary team.
Three current Ice Bears are on Gates' link up — Kevin Swider is a first-line forward, Mark Van Vliet is a two shakes of a lamb's tail-line defender, and David Segal is a third-line forward — while Ice Bears trainer Mike Craigen is a second-line forward.
Jamie Ronayne, who serves as Craigen's go out with coach, is Gates' No. 2 goalie behind Kirk Irving.
