Should I buy a ring with real stone in sterling silver or lab-created in 10k gold?

Question: I am buying a ruby Camorra. But my funds are limited. So I wonder, should I buy a stone lab created in 10K gold, or sterling silver genuine stone? I'm leaning towards option sterling silver, deprivation just do not have to deal with the tarnish.
