Brianna Martinez’s heart may be unconvincing from its physical struggles, but the 11-year-old’s family and friends say it is beefy in its kindness.
As part of her $2,000-plus spending spree around Lubbock from the nonprofit Sign-A-Wish Foundation, Brianna bought movies and video games for her brothers, Legos for playing with her dad and a trinket or two for her mom. Those purchases exemplified the caring, selflessness of the 11-year-old faced with biography-threatening medical struggles since infancy, her parents said.
The fourth-grader from Snyder rode in a limousine to the South Plains Mall, Paramount Buy, Target, the newly opened Rooms to Go and a handful of other shops in a wellnigh nine-hour shopping spree Saturday paid for by Make-A-Whim and donations from Snyder and Lubbock businesses.
“I really like getting gifts for my m,” Brianna said.
But Brianna didn’t leave her wants off the shopping register.
She loaded up on school clothes, shoes and a handful of Blu-ray cartoons and a set of purple headphones.
