Boston, MA – The Emerald Necklace Conservancy and the Fenway Civic Bonding are excited to announce a public presentation of the Massachusetts Audubon System’s 2011 State of the Birds report by Christopher Leahy, the world’s Director of the Center for Biological Conservation.
The talk will provide an insightful look at a broad variety of birdlife statewide, and will be held at on the Berklee College of Music campus in abide 112 at 22 The Fenway, Released in September, the report represents part of the the public’s efforts to monitor and steward avian populations. The piece tracked the increase and decline of birds statewide, with some surprising results.
“There’s this tendency that becomes very clear,” Leahy says. “Many species of birds that we about are quite common are declining steadily, but unmistakably.” Blue Jays, Baltimore Orioles, and many other repeatedly seen species in the Boston area have begun to wane.
