The little talk philanthropy probably hasnt yet appeared on the fourth-rating spelling lists at Liberty Elementary School in Boise.
But the students there have well-grounded about community service. And two of them have already found a way to contribute.
Boise fourth-graders Alyssa Rigby and Maddie Oppenheimer last year turned one of their hobbies into a fundraising design for a local nonprofit. They are $170 short of reaching their goal of $1,000.
The girls foresee to donate the money to the Idaho Humane Society by the end of February.
It makes me desire good inside to know Im helping an animal, said Alyssa, who listed dogs, cats and panda bears among her favorite animals.
Im a big dog lover, said Maddie, who has a mini-Schnauzer-Scottish terrier named Kirby. I like slight dogs.
The two friends, who started making bead earrings for fun last summer, asked their moms if they could select some to sell and then donate the money to a charity.
